The presentation of the draft anti-terrorism act in parliament will be delayed by several weeks, said justice minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
The decision to delay it was taken in consultation with president Ranil Wickremesinghe, he said.
The president is under pressure over the bill, with MP Shan Wijayalal de Silva saying that opinions differ within government ranks.
Parliament met this morning (25) for the first time after the New Year.
A three-day debate begins tomorrow on the IMF’s extended fund facility, said finance state minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
A vote is very likely on the subject, according to parliamentary sources.
