The chairman of the United National Party (UNP) chairman Wajira Abeywardena said cabinet members at the time voted in favour of the proposed anti-terrorism act (ATA) when it was first presented to Parliament in 2018.

Now in the opposition, these same MPs should tell the public on what grounds they oppose it now, he said.

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Eran Wickramaratne said the proposed ATA should be renamed the ‘state terrorism act.’

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa too, took a swipe at the proposed legislation.
