Leader of the United Republic Front (URF) Patali Champika Ranawaka has warned of a reemergence of urban shanties in Colombo.
Ranawaka was speaking at a series of public meetings in the city on 07 July.
He said the city’s development he had undertaken as the megapolis and western development minister had become chaotic following the regime change.
The plan had been to make Colombo shanty-free by 2025, he added.
Permanent housing for shanty dwellers, floodwater control and other activities are not done properly today, he said.
