Former health ministry secretary Janaka Sri Chandragupta has been remanded until 27 December over the purchase of substandard human immunoglobulin vaccines.
He was taken into custody when he arrived at the CID yesterday (18) to give a statement with regard to the matter.
Later, he was produced before the Maligakanda magistrate’s court.
Meanwhile, president of the health professionals union Ravi Kumudesh said Chandragupta had a final obligation to make for the health sector.
That is to reveal everything behind this scam.
The former health secretary cannot escape blame, but the decisions were not his own, but taken at the behest of his minister, Kumudesh noted.
