The state has suffered a financial loss of Rs. 930 million due to 189 university lecturers having abandoned their postgraduate studies, education minister Susil Premajayanth told parliament yesterday (20).

Answering a question raised by SJB’s Thushara Indunil, the minister said a total of 2,457 lecturers had been chosen since 2010 for doctorate courses.

They have been allocated Rs. 11,000 million for the purpose, he said.

The list of those who had abandoned their studies was presented to the House.
