Trade Unions attached to the Inland Revenue Department and Excise Department called off trade union action scheduled for tomorrow and the following day following intervention by the State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, trade union sources said.
The decision was taken after Minister Siyambalapitiya assured the unions to look into the grievances put forward by the outfits and find a solution to them at the earliest.
Accordingly, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the trade unions and a written undertaking was given by the government authorities as well, the sources said.
