Former Leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is scheduled to return to the island to give leadership for the

struggle to protect the Sri Lanka freedom Party (SLFP), a senior official of her staff said.

Within the next few days, she will call SLFP electoral organizers from time to time to discuss current political trends and to obtain their views and suggestions with regard to the future course of action that should be taken in view of the upcoming presidential elections.

Kumaratunga will convene a convention of party representatives at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on November 05, the official revealed.

It has been reported to The Leader that several SLFP MPs who have already vouched their support for the SLPP had sought appointments and fixed dates to meet President Kumaratunga in the next few days.
