The Colombo fraud bureau has filed a court case against several officials of the public administration ministry affiliate National Language Education and Training Institute at Makumbura over a major financial fraud.

The case will be taken up for hearing on 26 July, when an identification is also due to take place.

A former top official of the institution will also attend.

In the meantime, the head of the institute has left the country on 03 June without obtaining leave.

He got himself appointed as the director general in 2008 in a fraudulent manner, and was suspended several times for losing money for the state, defrauding the institution and misconduct.

The ministry is investigating him with measures being taken to recover the money lost from him personally.
