The Freedom People's Congress (FPC) will field a patriot as it presidential candidate and go on to build a new patriotic force, said its deputy president Udaya Gammanpila.
Addressing their May Day rally in Kirulapone, he said a majority of voters have rejected the Wickremesinghe, Premadasa and Dissanayake trio.
They are waiting patiently for the emergence of a patriotic force to contest the polls, he said.
He invited Sri Lanka Freedom Party members to join with the FPC, which he claimed, had the patriotism of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and the anti-imperialist policies of Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
