Officials of all health sector institutions have been warned of disciplinary action if found to have spoken to the media without obtaining prior approval from their respective heads.
Health ministry secretary S. Janaka Chandragupta has issued a circular in this regard.
He cited the establishment code, two previous state administration circulars and a Supreme Court ruling that prevent state officials from issuing information to the media without approval from authority.
The latest circular comes in the wake of health trade union leaders making remarks critical of the government and the health minister over the quality and shortage of medicines.
