A group of youths involved in the ‘Aragalaya’ has called for a new social consensus on reforms to prevent a defeat for the people’s victory gained a year ago.
In a statement to mark the first anniversary of the people’s uprising, the Black Cap Movement says all citizens’ organizations have a responsibility to consolidate that people’s victory.
The economy has regained some stability from bankruptcy a year ago, but essential economic and political reforms are at a slow pace, it says.
The group calls for a people’s participatory administration, establishment of commissions on social justice and truth and reconciliation.
It adds that the only alternative towards achieving those objectives is through a capitalist, liberal democratic path.
