Health minister Keheliya Rambukwella is to call for a report into the death of a woman at Ragama Hospital due to complications from a vaccine.
The deceased was a 23-year-old mother of one from Ja Ela.
Previously, two women died under similar circumstances at Peradeniya Hospital, and Rambukwella said a report has already been received.
Health sector trade unionist Ravi Kumudesh has urged the minister to appoint an independent commission to look into public complaints into substandard medicines and questionable clinical practices.
Transparency needs to be ensured by appointing members to represent victims of such incidents, in addition to the inclusion of subject experts in such a commission, he said.
