The National People's Power (NPP) will profit from a further postponement of the local government polls as the party has the highest acceptance among the voters, said its leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
He was responding to a claim by the president that he had been asked by the opposition to put off the election.

Meanwhile, the NPP has asked the Election Commission in writing to decide an earliest date for the LG polls, as per the Supreme Court ruling.
