The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating information it has received with regard to an attempt to be made on the life of president Ranil Wickremesinghe within two weeks, nethnews.lk reports.
State intelligence has come to know about persons involved with a local political party having met in a foreign country to plot in this connection.
The CID is to investigate the persons involved, nethnews.lk added.
When contacted, a senior CID official denied any such investigation was taking place.
The police media spokesman will issue a clarification today (28), the official added.
