‘Godayamu’, a citizens’ collective for economic reforms, launched its theme song and the message to the nation at a function in Maradana yesterday (23).

Chief guest on the occasion was former cricketer Chaminda Vaas, who funded the project.

Among the speakers were Prof. Rohan Samarajeewa, Randula de Silva and Dhananath Fernando.

The main objective of the collective is to raise awareness and rally the public for essential, but difficult reforms to stabilize the economy.

Others are – getting away from the welfare state mentality, a halt to recruitments in the public sector, peoplizing loss-making, inefficient state entities, creating an investment-friendly atmosphere and a productive social security network.
