The ‘Yukthiya’ offensive to curb drugs and the underworld will not be halted for any reason, said public security minister Tiran Alles.
Many have been trying since its commencement to either prevent arrests or to get the suspects released from custody, lankadeepa.lk quoted him as having claimed.
The offensive will continue irrespective of whether Deshabandu Tennakoon remains as the IGP or not, said the minister.
Asked if an acting police chief has been named in Tennakoon’s place, Alles said making that appointment is a task up to the president.
