Sri Lanka’s earnings from merchandise exports increased by 10.24 per cent to USD 1,213.7 million in August 2022, according Sri Lanka Customs statistics.

This was mainly due to the increase in earnings from the export of apparel and textiles.

Chairman of the Export Development Board Suresh D. de Mel has congratulated exporters for their great effort to increase foreign exchange earnings during this critical period.

He also thanked his staff at the EDB and other supporting agencies for their untiring support to facilitate exports under highly disruptive circumstances.

The estimated value of services exports for the period of January to August 2022 was USD 1,310.05 million, increasing 5.5 per cent over the corresponding period of 2021.

The services exports estimated by EDB consists of ICT/BPM, construction, financial services and transport and logistics.
