Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs to win the Asia Cup 2022 tournament in Dubai on Sunday.

Dasun Shanaka’s men had also beaten Pakistan in the last Super 4 match on Friday and recorded a successful turnaround with five-straight wins since a defeat to Afghanistan in the tournament opener.

Pakistan’s seam attack comprising Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf made the early inroads before Bhanaka Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71 off 44 balls powered the Lankans to a respectable 170 for six.

In reply, Sri Lanka bowlers - Pramod Madushan (4/34) and Wanindu Hasaranga (3/27) rallied together to restrict Pakistan to to record a famous win.

This was Sri Lanka’s sixth Asia Cup title and the first since 2014.
