The importation of electric bikes has been allowed since yesterday (24) as per a gazette issued by president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The notice allows the importation subject to import licenses, at the rates of Rs. 4,000 per electric bicycle and Rs. 1,000 per bicycle.
Vehicles, granite for construction industry
Also from yesterday, vehicles, granite and other raw materials required in the construction industry have been allowed to be imported on condition.
These could be imported for condominium, mixed development and government projects not coming under the Board of Investment only.
Vehicles and raw materials mentioned in the project reports under 180-day credit should be sanctioned by the import and export controller, finance secretary and the finance minister.
