President’s chief of staff and national security advisor Sagala Ratnayaka on 07 August received the ‘Defence Review 2030’ report from the team of officials involved in making the review.

That is the first step towards formulating a national defence policy on a concept by president Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The team studied the alternative policies to face future strategic challenges to guarantee Sri Lanka’s security.

The review outlines a roadmap for the future, encompassing both the immediate future and steps beyond 2030.

Key components of the defence review include a strategic vision and challenges for Sri Lanka in 2030, security interests of Sri Lanka and defence policy objectives for 2030.

Also included are power posture and power structure to address strategic challenges and prioritization of urgent needs within the constraints of the existing financial situation.
