Eight state ministers from the SLPP are planning to step down, lankadeepa.lk reports quoting reliable sources.
They are the ones who have decided against supporting incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming presidential polls.
D.V. Chanaka, Thenuka Vidanagamage, Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Asoka Priyantha, Mohan de Silva, Indika Anuruddha, Prasanna Ranaweera and Siripala Gamlath have been named as those state ministers.
Government MPs have been criticizing them for unethically remaining in their portfolios without supporting the government.
