The common masses as well as the country’s leader should make sacrifices in order for the country to come out of its bankruptcy, said opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.

He was speaking at the sixth meeting of the SJB’s Bhikku advisory council in Kurunegala.

The country’s leader should have led by example, but it did not happen in Sri Lanka, Premadasa said.

He said he has stressed to IMF representatives at a meeting the importance of the working people as well as the wealthy making sacrifices for the country.

Speaking further, he said the SJB operates under the teachings of the Buddha, especially the 10 precepts of governance.

He also referred to the halt ordered against his community services carried out with funds from well-wishers.

State funded development work for political gains continues at the same time, he noted.
