Partners to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya-led political alliance will sign an agreement at Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo on 08 August.

The Samagi Jana Sandhanaya will be joined by Mano Ganeshan, Rauff Hakeem, Palani Digambaram, Dullas Alahapperuma, Roshan Ranasinghe, Prof. G.L. Peiris, ex-MP Arjuna Ranatunga and many others.

SJB sources said that once the agreement is signed, they would campaign for the presidential election as the broadest opposition alliance.

Undecided trio

Former Sri Lanka Freedom Party general secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara has refuted reports that he would join the SJB-led alliance.

He said he would summon party organizers tomorrow (03) and decide whether to field own candidate or support a candidate from another party.

The United Republican Front too, is undecided on the matter, said its leader Patali Champika Ranawaka.

He said that talks were underway with the SJB as well as the Anura Yapa faction that supports president Ranil Wickremesinghe.

A decision is due within days, he added.

SJB sources say the All Ceylon Makkal Congrees led by Rishad Bathiudeen is yet to decide which candidate to support.
