Claiming that incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe to be nonpartisan, former minister and national secretary of the United National Party Ravi Karunanayake said there are no obstacles for anyone to join forces with him now.
Like-minded persons should get together and support him, stressed the ex-minister.
Highlighting that a national level team is needed to find solutions to the issues with the support of all, Karunanayake said their intention is to make winners out of the people, not just a family or a party.
He commended the people for their utmost patience, and highlighted the need to win the economy, just like the war was won.
"Wickremesinghe’s experience and talents are there for the whole world to see", he said, noting that a bankrupt country has now been revived.
Karunanayake also observed that the president wants to have friendly relations with all countries.
Criticisms by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and others that Wickremesinghe aligned with the Rajapaksas and that he was protecting them are not valid any longer, he added.
