SLPP MP Dhammika Perera said he was well prepared to contest for the presidency, if the party gives him the opportunity.
The party will take a decision on 29 July, he told the party’s youth convention in Colombo.

Meanwhile, he participated in a certificate distribution by his DP Education IT campus in Ratnapura on 28 July.
Making reference to the still unresolved issue of flooding, he said he had made personal study of the matter some years ago by looking into blockades against the Kalu Ganga.
Ratnapura should be the only town in the world to get flooded despite its high elevation, he said.
Perera said politicians are not giving it a lasting solution probably because they use it by way of distributing flood relief to win votes.
