The government is to carry out a census of the elephant population after 13 years.
It will take place within the next two months, said wildlife minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi.
She spoke to journalists today (28) at the president’s media centre in Colombo about the performance of her ministry in the past two years.
Wanniarachchi claimed to have done positive work to manage the human-elephant conflict during the period.
