A crucial meeting is due today (28) between president Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sri Lanka Podujana Permauna founder Basil Rajapaksa where a decision is expected with regard to the presidential polls.

The two met a few days ago too, with regard to a proposed alliance to face the election.

However, it ended without any agreement.

A deposit was placed on 26 July on behalf of Wickremesinghe to contest as an independent candidate.
