Police chief Deshabandu Tennakoon has refused to reverse actions taken against the underworld despite any threats.
He said the police will not fear death threats issued via social media.
Just like its personnel faced terrorism successfully, thousands of police are prepared to commit their lives to eliminate the underworld and drugs, he said.
Tennakoon was speaking at the burning of more than 355 kilos of seized cocaine at a specially-built incinerator at Wanathawilluwa.
According to him, the second stage of ‘Yukthiya’ operation would focus on seizing illegal firearms.
Since December, a total of 296 firearms have been seized, he said.
