MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake said he would be happy to see incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe winning the presidential polls.
Addressing the local government representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) in Ampara, he said his party could not win the election.
Wickremesinghe accepted the challenge and took the country forward according to his economic vision, he said.
"Right or wrong, the country now runs on his economic and political theories, and if that gets changed the country will face ruin," he added.
