Entrepreneur Dhammika Perera has come in for praise by Buddhist clergy for his efforts to uplift rural children.

He changed the concept of “better things for Colombo, not so better things for the villages,” said chief Sanghanayake Dr. Nugetenne Pannananda Thera.

All monks in Anuradhapura district are fully supporting his DP Education IT Campus project, said the prelate.

He was addressing a certificate distribution for 3,750 IT campus students at Salgadu grounds in Anuradhapura today (07) in the presence of a crowd of around 10,000.

Perera, speaking on the occasion, said it took him five years to formulate the mechanism to ensure equal education for all.

Now, what remains to be done is to provide smart classrooms for each school in the country, which is possible to do within a six-month period, he said.

He said he has already provided smart classrooms to 675 schools.

Also, 165 IT campuses are providing education for 130,000 students, added Perera.
