Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the leader of the UNP-led alliance which is presently at discussion level, said Saman Ratnapriya.
Talks are ongoing for the formation of the alliance, although the UNP has already decided to contest the upcoming general election under the ‘gas cylinder’ symbol.
The UNP’s discussions with the SJB to form a common alliance failed after the latter’s leader Sajith Premadasa laid down conditions.
