At least 35 senior politicians are unlikely to contest the upcoming parliamentary polls, deshaya.lk reports.
Notable among them are Mahinda Rajapaksa, Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Also included are five former cabinet ministers, 10 ex-state ministers and 25 former MPs.
Several other seniors are expected to contest after switching their parties.
