A party without a cohesive economic programme or a capable team is frightened of meeting the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) for a debate on the economy, said opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.
Although such parties evade debates, he said, his party will not do so and is prepared to meet rival leader and his economic team.
Premadasa issued an ultimatum to fix dates for both debates.
He was speaking after handing over a smart classroom to Rajapaksa Central College in Weeraketiya.
A debate on the economy is a must to explain to the people on how to uplift education, health etc., he added.
