Indian religious leader Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj was in Kandy yesterday (22).

He is the head priest of Sri Ram Pooja Mandir in Ayodhya and treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

He was accompanied in his visit by a group of Indian investors.

They called on the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter and also had talks with the Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa.

They exchanged views on longstanding historical, cultural, spiritual and diplomatic relations between the two countries and taking those ties to the future generations.

On the previous day, he participated in a landmark event that promises to usher in a new era of spiritual connectivity and cultural resurgence.

It was the launch of Shree Ramayan Trails' project, which took place under his divine guidance and endorsement at the Taj Samudra, Colombo.

President's chief of staff and national security advisor Sagala Ratnayaka graced the occasion as the chief guest while former speaker Karu Jayasuriya delivered the keynote address.

The 'Shree Ramayan Trails' aims to transform nine key sites across Sri Lanka into world-class monuments, epitomizing the spiritual and historical essence of the epic Ramayana.
