National People's Power (NPP) Executive Committee member Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa yesterday (10) said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is spreading false information to escape from the debate and NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake is ready to have a debate with the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
In a statement, Dr. Jayatissa said that the NPP leader Dissanayake, during a TV programme has said that he is ready to have a debate with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa even though the latter had not accepted it.
It was Anura Kumara Dissanayake who held the first discussion about a debate between the two on January 1 this year, during a television programme, he said
He said that the NPP leader very clearly said that he is ready for a debate with Premadasa on the country’s development path during this programme.
However, for some reason, the Opposition Leader did not accept the challenge and instead, several members of that party presented a topic of having a debate on economic policy with the National People’s Power Economic Council.
