Around one million voters have been newly-registered for the presidential polls due this year, said director general of the Election Commission Saman Sri Ratnayake.
According to him, 16 million voters were eligible to vote at the 2019 election.
That figure has now risen to 17 million, he said, adding the new entrants have just reached the voting age of 18 years.
