Investigations into the Kokkuthoduvai mass grave have found that the bodies belonged to LTTE members buried between 1994 and 1996.
This is mentioned in a 35-page interim report submitted by Prof. Raj Somadeva to Mullaitivu magistrate’s court.
It followed excavations at the gravesite for 21 days retrieved skeletal remains of 40 persons.
Water supply workers laying pipelines stumbled upon the gravesite in June 2023.
Excavations there remain suspended due to a lack of funds.
The district secretariat has informed the court that the OMP was delaying the funding.
