Claiming a conspiracy behind the ICC’s suspension of cricket in Sri Lanka, sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe said he would appeal against it in international court.
Speaking to Neth FM, he said appropriate measures would be taken after the ICC’s announcement of its reasons for the suspension.
Meanwhile, the executive committee of the SLC meets today (11) at 11.00 am to discuss the suspension.
Its acting secretary Krishantha Kapuwatta said the next course of action would be decided and the media informed thereafter.
The suspension is not accidental, but due to the negligence of Sports Ministry authorities, he charged.
Last evening, the International Cricket Council Board suspended SLC’s membership of the ICC with immediate effect.
The ICC Board met and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member, in particular, the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation and/or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka.
The conditions of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course.
