A resumption of excavations at a suspected mass grave in Mullaitivu remains in suspense with the state funding not being made available as promised.
The chief accountant at the district secretariat has told JMO Kanagasabhapathi Vasudeva that there was no money for the work.
Vasudeva has told the media that laboratory test results too, are likely to get delayed.
The Office for Missing Persons has promised that the Presidential Secretariat will issue Rs. 5.7 million for excavations at Kokkutuduvai.
Work remains suspended since 15 September for the analysis of evidence gathered so far, which could take up to two months.
Skeletal remains of 17 people, believed to be of LTTE members, have so far been dug up from the site which was first found by water supply workers digging to lay pipelines on 29 June.
