The Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) is in full agreement to the proposed people’s council system, said its leader Prof. Tissa Vitarana.
The National People’s Council Secretariat has already prepared a draft for the formulation of this system.
Vitarana has met with top officials of the Secretariat and discussed the system that is the result of a civil society proposal for rural development in a populist manner and with people-participatory administration.
Director general of the secretariat Palitha Lihiniyakumara and director Akalanka Hettiarachchi were among those who attended the meeting.
