An Air Force training aircraft that took off from the China Bay airport in Trincomalee crashed, killing both pilots onboard.

According to the SLAF, a PT6 aircraft used to train pilots at the No. 1 flying training wing in SLAF Academy at China Bay had taken off this morning (07) for an air test.

At around 11.27 am, the aircraft had crashed in the vicinity of the SLAF Camp in China Bay killing both pilots.

SLAF Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa has appointed a committee to investigate the crash.
