The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is carrying out a feasibility and security assessment study for the relocation of the President's House and other administrative complexes from Colombo to Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.
UDA chairman Nimesh Herath said the presidential secretariat, prime minister’s office, Temple Trees, cabinet secretariat and the foreign ministry are among the other state institutions to be relocated.
Old buildings in Colombo with a commercial value will be developed as tourism attractions, with several rounds of talks with the president and other authorities already taking place in that regard.
