Parliamentarian Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, a former minister, is likely to be appointed leader of a political alliance to be formed by Nimal Lanza and other MPs who function independently from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), ‘Irida Deshaya’ reports.
One of these MPs has claimed they had the backing of around 40 independents.
They will meet soon officially and form the alliance that will extend support to president Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Their head office will be opened at Rajagiriya in a matter of days.
