A Chinese man who was detained by immigration officials was deported to China yesterday afternoon (08), said the Public Security Ministry.
He had arrived on the island on a fake passport on May 19, but was allowed entry on a written request by state minister Arundika Fernando.
Following an inquiry, minister Tiran Alles had ordered the controller of immigration and emigration to deport the man immediately.
The Chinese national was accompanied on his flight home by an official of the Chinese embassy, two STF officers and two drug prevention officials.
