There has been speculation of Mahinda Rajapaksa to be appointed prime minister, following heightened security in Colombo city.
Social media reported that Rajapaksa is due to take oaths today (13).
The main reason for this is that security has been beefed up in the city with armed forces members and hundreds of police personnel, including STF commandos, stationed in key locations.
They included the official residences of president Ranil Wickremesinghe and former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
When contacted, a senior official of the Defence Ministry said heightened security in the vicinity of the Colombo University followed intelligence reports of a gathering of IUSF activists last night for a major protest today.
