It has become difficult to pay for the coal shipments ordered for the Norochcholai power plant, said Lanka Coal company chairman Shehan Sumanasekara.

The payment for a ship that has already arrived with a load cannot be met, he said.

Another is due to arrive shortly.

Thirty per cent of the payments for both shipments have been made, and the balance should be paid before unloading, said Sumanasekara.
