A project to provide nutritional food allowance of Rs. 45,000 to pregnant mothers for the duration of the pregnancy will be started this year, the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment said.
The Ministry further noted that the nutritional allowance which was Rs. 20,000 has been revised to Rs. 45,000.
The allowance was first introduced by the good governance government where the pregnant mothers received Rs. 2,000 each month during the ten months of pregnancy.
