President Anura Kumara Dissanayake attended the Colombo International Book Fair yesterday (28).

The fair is taking place at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall in Colombo for the 25th time in celebration of the literature month.

During the event, Samantha Indeewara, President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, presented a draft of the national policy on children’s books to president Dissanayake.

The president toured several booths showcasing both local and international books and briefly interacted with the public present at the venue.

He received a warm response from the public.

A large crowd had gathered at the fair, which features around 400 stalls this year.

Organized annually by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, the Colombo International Book Fair runs from September 27th to October 6th, from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm at the BMICH.

The event was also attended by senior academics and government officials, including Senior Professor Liyanage Amarakeerthi from the University of Peradeniya, Additional Secretary Udara Dikkumbura from the Ministry of Education, Director Samanthi Jayasuriya, and Head of the Department of Integrated Design at the University of Moratuwa, Ruwandika Senanayake.
