A dejected Prof. Arjuna de Silva has declared his intention to step down from his position as head of medicine at Sri Lanka Cricket after the national team toured Zimbabwe starting next week.

The reason he has cited for his decision was how SLC treated the physiotherapist Thihan Chandramohan at its high-performance centre after he was injured in an accident.

Chandramohan had been walking down the road in front of a star-class hotel at Union Place, Colombo in the early hours of yesterday morning (01) when he collided with a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist had fled the scene.

Prof. de Silva said he rushed there after receiving a phone call around 1.30 am and took Chandramohan to hospital.

The SLC physiotherapist is being treated at a private hospital for a broken left leg.

“I did everything for him. There was no one from the high-performance centre to take him to hospital,” said Pro. de Silva.

“I am doing everything for cricket without charging any money. Therefore, I am intending to resign as head of SLC’s head of medicine after the Zimbabwe tour,” he added.
