Royal College, Colombo won the 144th Battle of the Blues by defeating S. Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia by 181 runs at the SSC grounds yesterday (18).
The winners batted first and declared their first innings at 326 for eight.
STC managed only 153 all out in their first innings.
Batting a second time, Royal College again declared at 168 for four, and then bowled their opponents out for 161 to claim the D.S. Senanayake Trophy.
The awards presentation was graced by president Ranil Wickremesinghe, an old Royalist, who also watched the game from the second day’s play.
He spoke with both teams, congratulated the winners and also conversed with the spectators.
